CSA Lakeland was fortunate to participate and sponsor the 2015 Go Lucy Go 5k/10k/Kids’ Fun Run last weekend. The race, which is the primary fundraiser for the Go Lucy Go Foundation, had almost 1000 people participate, netted over $33,000 for the LeBonheur Neuroscience Institute, and had 100 people sign up to be bone marrow donors.
The foundation took shape several years ago as a way to pay forward thanks to those who had been so kind to the Krull family when they were at their most vulnerable. In February of 2011, their daughter Lucy was diagnosed with a form of brain cancer, Medulloblastoma.
Examples of the foundation’s work include providing family grants to assist with the non-medical needs of families and funding travel and education for key personnel of the neuroscience floor at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital.
While several of the Lakeland team participated in the race, our own Ben Knoernschild showed off his fast speed by winning the 10k race with a 33:43:0 time!
