This new medical office building is under construction in Knoxville, TN adjacent to the existing Tennessee Valley Eye Center medical office building. The project was designed with our friends at Design Innovation Architects. The one-story structure features structural steel framing with light gauge infill studs, steel framed drop-off and pick-up canopies, and a structural steel mechanical screen wall. When completed, the medical office building will provide a new Ambulatory Surgery Center facility for Tennessee Valley Eye Center located in the West Knoxville area.
The renovation to an existing historic three-story building and construction of a new roof penthouse is in its final stage. This project was designed with our friends at Smee + Busby Architects. The existing building is located north of downtown Knoxville and consists of existing multi-wythe brick walls, wood framed floors and two large transverse steel beams near the front of the building at the roof level. Areas of the building were strengthened with additional wood framing to support a new mezzanine, the new roof platform and the relocated load bearing walls below the roof. It was determined that the existing steel beams were adequate to support the roof penthouse and a custom steel stair; two features that provide unique character to the existing structure. Once completed, the first and second floors will be rented office space, while the third floor and roof penthouse will be used as residential space.
This new medical office building is under construction in Powell, TN near Interstate 75 and Emory road. The project was designed and detailed with our friends at McCarty Holsaple McCarty. When completed, the medical office building will provide a new facility for Dermatology Specialists, PLLC located in the north Knoxville area.
